Pros: Versatile

Cons: Good bang for buck

Best Uses: Wall, Framing flat panels

Was this a gift?: No

I use these to frame flat panel scratchboards. The clips are screwed into frame and then glued with e6000 to the back of the board. They are perfect for my work. Only downside is you have to be careful, when dropped they ding pretty badly. Not wood, not sure what the composition is, but easily repaired.

Thanks for this review of the Illusions Floater Frames. I have been looking at them lately and wondering how I would attach a panel (Ampersand Aquabord or Gessobord) to them. I thought they were for canvas. Would you be willing to say more about how you attach panels to the Illusions? Thanks so much. I found your blog by doing a search on floater frames for panels!

Hi Meredith,
If you go to the Ampersand Art blog or google my name + Ampersand on youtube you will find a nifty little video there that was just finished showing how I frame with those.
They are not super fine high dollar frames, and are made in China from some wood composite, but they are sturdy enough and do the trick for me. I always assume that a collecter would rather pay more for good art than for some pricey frame anyway.
